Aim & Objectives


The purpose of the Industrial Linkage & Learning Centre of SBID is to make narrow or possibly to affix the gap between supply (academia) and demand (employer) sides within the supply-chain management of a product namely knowledge and skills. The program is based upon the premise that increases linkages between industry and higher education in order to enhance quality and to foster innovation within pedagogy and practice of expertise along with professionalism. Finally, this will help have market-able and industry-ready graduates.


The objectives of this canter are based on the overall economic and social development strategy of the region and beyond that ensure an optimum utilization of human and natural resources through every stakeholder involved. Objectives:

  1. Promoting economic efficiency and growth.
  2. Bringing about a sustainable structural shift in the economy ensuing industry ally-ism.
  3. Promoting inter and intra-sectoral linkages.
  4. Developing domestic technological capability for the production of intermediate inputs, outputs and capital goods.
  5. Creating a solid-base for the transfer, adaptation and development of technology.
  6. Developing and achieving international competitiveness in areas of clear comparative advantages in industrial exports.
  7. Promoting the use of labor intensive technology and of local resources.
  8. Promoting balanced regional development.

Working Culture with ILLC

SBID follows subsequent steps in order to engender its ILLC with the partner industries in different sectors.

ILLC Selection Procedure

  • Firstly, the school estimates the total employment markets and sectors that predominantly absorb the graduates educated through the programs offered by the SBID by analysing and tabulating the offering programs.
  • Secondly, we chalk-out the common and the most potential employment markets considering the following criteria
    1. Current economic growth and future growth.
    2. Emerging trends.
    3. Current climate and atmosphere of economic phenomena within the region and beyond.
    4. Statistics and research based data and evidence
  • Thirdly, we provide weightage based on the prominence of the sectors and their emerging trends’ carve.
  • Fourthly, we classify sectors according to the three major industrial levels
    1. Small enterprise
    2. Medium enterprise and
    3. Large enterprise
  • And finally, we select the students for industrial attachment program after analyzing their merit, background, interest and psychological affiliation.

Presently, SBID has approximately twenty-one (21) sectors, of which seven (7) are potential considering the present contingency of Bangladesh.

We work with students to find placements that reflect their personal and professional requirements. Students can work in a range of organizations including local industries, small/medium/large enterprises, international brands, schools, charities, NGOs and professional sports clubs.

The Work Place Learning Centre (WPLC) at CUST under its SBID offers students an opportunity to undertake an accredited work placement in the sector of their choice. We may have ILLC with many selected sectors but we would maintain very short listed farms among them to make WPLC where student can observe directly the professional atmosphere, code of conduct, corporate culture, ethics and many more. The academic teaching provides only the trade based education but the WPLC introduce the students with sectorial based skills. This approach not only assists the graduate to be an expert of a trade but also be a connoisseur at the sector of his/her desired. The CUST would try to provide through its selected WPLC to students in order to minimize risk in taking employment in the potential sector using the feasibility analysis under the ILLC. The Workplace Learning Centre provides individuals and corporations with the tools they need to work smarter and meet organizational objectives through workplace assessments, basic skills instruction, training and development, and organizational consulting. The purpose of the Workplace Learning Centre is to advance economic growth and global competitiveness in the Bangladesh by defining, developing and delivering workforce training and service solutions. In collaboration with the industry, some dedicated office space for the university students for their learning is hence labelled as Work Place Learning Centre (WPLC). In that classroom, Industrial Fellows are educating the students before moving them into real fields. Students can learn and adopt the corporate culture and atmosphere practically. They can pave the way to arrange their industrial attachment for the last semester and get a great opportunity to be connected in a corporate network can help them in future for doing business and any other so forth benefits.
